I wanted to preface this post with the fact that I know I am imperfect and will make mistakes as I start sharing my beliefs more than I ever have before. But I refuse to let that be my excuse for not saying anything at all. So I thank you for your grace and kindness, now and always.

Black Lives Matter

Hi friends, I talked about this initially in this Instagram post, where I admitted that I haven’t always used my blog or Instagram to speak up. I hid behind the excuse that my brand should be “all about positivity and joy,” and that I wasn’t “qualified enough” to speak on matters of such importance, even though I would talk about them offline. How wrong I was.

Through taking the past few days to listen & learn, I have realized that there are SO many more ways that I can authentically do better to stand up for what I believe in, and share them with all of you.

I am promising that I will step up and do the work, both online and off, to be the best ally and advocate for the Black community that I can be.

Here are a few immediate ways of how I’m going to personally keep up the momentum and move forward:

I’m going to keep listening to, reading, watching, and overall learning from everyone who is providing meaningful dialogue to this continuing conversation. Most of this will take place offline, but I will be sure to share the most useful content and education that I come across with you all.

I’m going to lift up & amplify the voices of the Black community I’ve already connected with and those that are new to me. I’ll be sharing businesses that are Black-owned on my Instagram/blog more than I ever have, as well as continuing to recommend as many Black influencers to my consulting clients, and encouraging them to diversity the influencers they work with.

I’m going to put my money where my mouth is and offer my dollars and services to support both charities that give back and Black-owned businesses. I have donated $1,100 among the Black Visions Collective, NAACP, Black Lives Matter, and Campaign Zero so far, and will continue donating. I am planning on bringing on another consulting client for the month of June (I am currently working with four), and am pledging to work with a Black-owned business. I’ll also be waiving my consulting fees for them. I will offer to build an influencer marketing strategy or campaign for them (or whatever their specific marketing needs may be!). Please email amylittleson14@gmail.com if you’re interested or share this post with anyone who might be.

Honestly, the above steps are simple and just a start of what will be a lifelong journey to do better as an ally and advocate for the Black community. It will definitely not be perfect, but the attempt will be better than doing or saying nothing at all. 😊 xx
