A Bedroom Refresh for Summer

Johnny and I will have lived in our Upper East Side apartment for four years (come this October), which is so wild to me! It’s such a special, comfortable spot to us and we’ve really loved making it a reflection of our personalities and favorite things.

After living in it for a few years, it came time to refresh our bedroom space (you can see what it looked like when we moved in here!), so I went with a new rug, fresh new bedding, a new (bigger!) dresser, a new desk chair for Johnny (he works from home occasionally), and a few new decor details. I also took out the old rug (which had held up beautifully!), mopped down the floors, dusted everywhere, and retouched the paint on the nightstands as well–I used Benjamin Moore’s “White Dove” color.

It’s still full of all of the touches that I think makes it so relaxing and inviting: calming blue hues, textured rattan/cane details, big fluffy bedding, and some of our favorite personal photos. The new bedding was inspired by two recent stays we’ve have at Four Seasons properties. I fell in *love* with their famous signature bedding, and did some research to find (more affordable) bedding in the same type of material that theirs is: sateen. It’s smooth and cool/crisp to the touch which is so perfect for summer.

This post breaks down all of my hacks (learned from my mom!) on how to make the most comfortable marshmallow-fluffy bed. But be warned: you’ll have an incredibly hard time getting out of it in the morning after you follow my bedding tips 😂.

In all, this bedroom refresh has been on my to-do list for a while now, and feels so good to get done ahead of the summer (which has already been insanely hot in the city!). There’s nothing better than cleaning out and switching up a space you spend so much time in!
