September 2024 Life & Links Recap

Life Recap

The month of September kicked off what is going to be a very busy fall for me– especially travel-wise. I love the fall in New York so much that I truly hate to leave it, especially on the weekends, but I have a number of trips (some personal, some for work) that all fell into these next few months.

I kicked off September with going to the US Open with three of my best friends– all girlfriends I grew up with on Long Beach Island in the summers. We went to a night match (which I think is more exciting imo!), got honey deuces (of course), San Matteo pizza (pictured above), and sat up so high in the stands but seriously had the best time. My only complaint is that it was so. crowded. Like dangerously so. I don’t know if it’s part of growing older or getting off of anxiety medication (maybe a mix of both), but my tolerance for crowds has really gone down in the past year.

Also lol but the same day that I went to the US Open I had a hair appointment and accidentally went wayyy too dark with my hair color. You can see in the image above when I’m in the tennis stadium. 😂 It lasted all of 15 hours and I went back to my hair stylist, Joseph of Joseph’s Atelier, the next morning to get some highlights. I had originally asked him to go darker than he usually does but then ate my words and had him add in some highlights the next day. He’s such a genius though and we achieved the perfect ~honey latte~ shade that you can see here!

The weekend after that we had a 30th birthday celebration in LBI (for one of the girls I went to the US Open with!). It was “30-Love” themed and just a blast to be back at the shore in September, which truly is one of my favorite months there. The following week, I went to Ottawa, Canada with the Marriott Bonvoy team to photograph and share their Delta City Centre property there. I adore the Marriott team I work with on these trips, and was seriously so blown away by how gorgeous and fun Ottawa was. I shared my travel guides for it here and here.

I had another best friend’s 30th last month, which we celebrated in NYC and all saw Kygo at the Barclay’s Center. I swear that’s my favorite concert venue– the stands are so steeply angled so you can see so well and we had an absolute blast. Kygo songs were the anthem of our entire college experience 😂 so we really felt like we were back in time!!

Shortly after that I went on an extra special Bachelorette, for one of the other girls I went to the US Open with, and my bestie since we were literally seven years old. For years she’s been saying that she wanted to have her Bachelorette in St. Tropez, France, and it exceeded all expectations of what we thought it would entail. She planned it to perfection– with the perfect balance of dancing on tables to shopping in town. It reminded me a lot of St. Barths (where I had my Bachelorette two summers ago), but with more of the incredible old historic buildings/architecture that you can only find in Europe. I shared more about it in this post, but highly highly recommend it for an over-the-top fab Bach trip. My only tip would be to fly directly into Nice (absolutely do not transfer through London– if you’ve been to that airport you know 😂).

Okay wow I need to wrap this up. I took one last trip in the month of September to Johnny’s hometown of Winnetka, IL for a friend’s wedding we had there. His parents also went, and we stayed with them at the house Johnny grew up in, so it was so great to get to catch up with my in-laws. I always joke that I hit the in-law jackpot because they really are exceptional. We played pickleball, ate deep dish, and enjoyed how gorgeous fall is in Illinois!

Considering I had so much travel, I also pulled some very long work days in September to try to make up for the days I had “off”– though there’s never a true “off” when you work for yourself. I am about to enter busy season as the holidays approach, and am looking forward to the fun collabs that come with that– even when I’m working round the clock to bring them all to life!
