Hi! This one is for all you soon-to-be study abroad chicks out there. As you may know, I studied abroad in Prague this past fall and while living in Europe I quickly learned which items were unnecessary (crop top and short sets…) and which items were game changers in my abroad experience. So today I’m dishing on all my must-haves. If you have already packed most of these, good for you! But I learned about some of these items while being abroad, so I’m sharing them now so you don’t have to:)

One | Travel Flats 

When you need that extra pair of neutral shoes but your riding boots can’t quite fit… these lightweight and foldable Tory flats are perfect. They’re made of soft leather and have a slip-resistant bottom. PLUS they come in a variety of European #chic colors. They’re super easy to wear to the airport and then just throw on fuzzy socks when you’re on the plane!

Two | File Folders

This one is for the organizational freak in me, but I can’t tell you how helpful they are to keep all of your travel documents in order. Itineraries, brochures, ticket stubs, paper menus, public transportation passes… the list of miscellaneous but important documents that you’ll accumulate is endless. File them away in cute folders so you’re not THAT girl at the airport check-in counter rummaging through the bottom of her tote for her boarding pass.

Three | Packable Zipper Tote

This checks all the boxes for a stand-out study abroad bag: it’s waterproof, has a top zipper that encloses it (keep those pick-pocketers out!), and it folds up so it’s easily packable. AND it looks sleek and cool. I looked long and hard for my perfect study abroad bag last year and wish this one had been out at the time! It’s a no brainer.

Four | Can’t-Live-Without Snacks

Twizzlers. Cheez-its. Home made chex-mix. Not like you’re going to be starving over there (hello European pasta), but a girl needs her comfort snacks.

Five | Credit Card/Passport Theft Blockers

These credit card and passport covers provide protection from all RFID scanners. It’s so easy for someone to stand next to you on the subway with a scanner and steal the information from your credit card that you have in your purse. These covers are a cute and simple way to make sure your personal information stays safe and guarded.

Six | Inexpensive Sunnies 

Definitely pack a few pairs of inexpensive sunnies. There’s nothing worse that running all through a foreign department store trying to find where you set down your designer sunglasses… I particularly like these because they have both black and brown in them so they can go with all your European neutral outfits, ha. They are only $12 so get two in case you lose a pair!

Seven | Carry-On Wheelie Suitcase 

The brand of luggage I linked claims to make the lightest suitcases in the world, which is convenient and necessary for all of us over-packers. Its wheels have full mobility so it’s super easy to maneuver through crowded airports and streets. I would recommend getting a portable mini scale so you can weigh your luggage beforehand to make sure it meets the airline’s weight requirements– some of them can be really strict!

Eight | Portable Charger 

In case you get to a new country and realize that you don’t have the right adapter to charge your phone, or you go to call an uber and your phone dies… it happens. Plan ahead by bringing along this handy portable phone charger so you can charge up ANYWHERE without plugging your phone into an electrical socket. The one I linked can charge an iPhone 6 up to 7 times without being recharged.

Nine | Journal 

For your travel itineraries and all your memories. Definitely pack a cute journal to jot down notes/recommendations from people, plan out your trips (hello Trip Advisor), and write down your favorite moments. The one I linked up says “Wanderlust” and the gold detailing is gorgeous.

Ten | Tech Wipes 

I became a germaphobe when I went abroad– I blame public transportation.I traveled with my iPhone and computer everywhere (#bloggingproblems), so they ended up accumulating a ton of germs too. Pack sanitizer for your hands and these wipes for everything else– they fight germs, kill bacteria, and don’t leave streaks on your phone, computer, etc. These are rosemary and peppermint scented!

I hope this helps a bit to decrease the stress and maximize the fun of studying abroad and living on your own in a new country.
