Today is all about
BEAUTY!! Though I definitely don’t consider beauty one of my main topics on the
blog, every once in a while I want to write an update on the latest beauty
items I’ve tried and loved. I’m definitely a product junky—ever since my first
love with Bath and Body Works, I’ve been attracted to any product that smells
lovely, has a pretty package, or makes my skin glitter. It’s always been my
goal to find the perfect product to
fix all of my beauty woes (we all have lots
of those). So in a two-part post I’m going to be spilling my
go-to-all-time-favorite-holy-grail-life-changing makeup items!! Starting with my face makeup…

Oh, and then there’s
the makeup STORAGE. All of the brushes, compacts, creams, and lotions have to
go somewhere, right?? Your holy grail beauty items deserve only the best. This
is where SCOUT comes in. This darling waterproof striped bag is like a fancy
hotel for your makeup besties. The three zippered pockets (one large center one
and two on the side) make it oh so convenient to separate and organize your
products.

This SCOUT 3-Way Bag also comes in a multitude of adorable patterns and colors and you can monogram it! Snaps for SCOUT, ladies.

I’ve noticed that face
makeup that you truly love is the most difficult type of makeup to find. You have to
find foundation, powder, and bronzer that taints your face somewhere in the
middle of the spectrum of eggshell white to Jersey Shore tan.

I have naturally oily skin, so a lot of the products I use specialize in reducing oil and keeping shine to a minimum throughout the day. These products are perfect if you wear your makeup all day long and want it to stay looking as fresh as possible. Most of the items below were recommended to me by a beauty consultant at various beauty stores throughout the years.

My face priming makeup in the order that I apply it:

Caudalie Moisturizing Matifying Fluid: I use this as my face moisturizer and it is so light and wonderful and soaks right in!

Clinique Superprimer Face Primer: I put this on right after my moisturizer. I also love the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer which creates a matte base over my entire face– the ideal palate for applying makeup.

Bobbi Brown Long Wear Even Finish Foundation {color “cool beige”} which I put on with the Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Face Brush: Such a light foundation that applies and blends so evenly. They offer a multitude of flattering shades as well. The corresponding brush is also worth the splurge!

Cover FX Contour Kit which I apply with the Double End Contour Brush: I aim for that Kim K contour look (I kid.. kind of) with this super easy contour kit. Each of the four palettes is labeled a different number and it comes with a “paint by numbers” diagram that shows you where to apply each shade on your face. It’s like contouring for dummies, really. I did a lot of research on contour kits and I’m obsessed with this choice. I got the “P Light Medium” palette because I have “pink undertones” in my face!

My face powder makeup in the order that I apply it (after my foundation):
Neutrogena Shine Control Powder: I apply this after my foundation and contour makeup, and it sets that part of my makeup and helps control shine throughout the day.

Bobbi Brown Brightening Finishing Powder {“brightening nudes” shade}: I’m obsessed with the soft shimmer this creates on my cheeks and forehead! It’s casts such a pretty glow.

Bobbi Brown Illuminating Bronzing Powder {“Bali Brown” shade}: I use this to deepen my contoured cheeks. It adds more shimmer and such a deep and strong bronze glow!! This is hands down my favorite bronzer. (That’s a big statement coming from this Jersey girl…)

Physician’s Formula Bronze Booster: These bronzing beads are so fun to apply over my initial Bobbi Brown bronzer application because the pigment isn’t super overwhelming. I use the brush that comes with this with the Bobbi Brown bronzer I talked about above to deepen my contour look on my cheeks.

NARS Blush {“orgasm” shade}: This is definitely the go-to blush shade and it creates a warm summertime glow on my cheek bones all year long! I also really love the shade “bright candy pink” — but you probably could’ve guessed that…

Flower Highlighter Chubby Stick: I smear this under my eyes, under my eyebrows, and on the bridge of my nose to add even more shimmer (I’m not kidding) to my face. It’s creates a dewy and pearlescent glow that you just need in your life. Bonus points: it’s from Drew Barrymore’s beauty line!

A few of the brushes I use to apply my face makeup.

Cover FX Double Ended Contour Brush: This goes along with the contour kit and is the perfect way to smooth on the contour cream onto your cheeks.

Eco Tools Large Powder Brush: The ideal size for applying blush.

Clinique Powder Brush: So big and fluffy! I use this for applying my powder and the lighter bronzer.

The final touches…

I color my eyebrows with the Anastasia Brow Wiz pencil (in the color “taupe”) and spray my entire face a few times with the Urban Decay Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray to set my makeup and keep it from getting oily.

I buy most of my
makeup through Sephora (I recently purchased the Flash two day shipping, which
means that I get free two day shipping for the rest of the year) and have definitely not
regretted that. I also use Amazon Prime Beauty to restock on items, because most of
the time I run out of my bronzer on a Wednesday and really really need it by
Saturday night, you feel?? 🙂
