I am happy to be bringing you a mid-week post featuring this tropical romper and the lush scenery of a backyard in Vero Beach, Florida. You may have seen on my Instagram, but last Spring my parent’s got a townhouse in John’s Island in Vero Beach, FL. They had thought about and debated where they wanted to test out  a place for a future retirement home (they seriously considered Charleston), and pretty much fell in love at first sight with this community within Vero when they saw it last Spring. They happened to be in Orlando for a conference that my dad had for work, and then all of a sudden my mom had him in John’s Island and they were sealing the deal on a townhouse. Funny how that works, right?! ? #Whorunstheworld #Deb (Luckily Steve is equally as in love with the getaway spot, not to worry ;)).

It just so happens that my boyfriend’s family has a winter house in a different community that’s only a few miles down the road. It is convenience at its best and we have absolutely loved getting to spend holidays and vacations together this past year. I’m so, so thankful that our families get along so well together (they’re all really athletic and can’t get enough competitive time together– honestly I’m the odd one out in most cases HA), and they’ve been so beyond wonderful in sharing their favorite parts of Vero with us. In addition, we have met the nicest people in our community, who have been welcoming and inclusive from the start. Turns out that sunshine and fresh squeezed Florida OJ creates happy, kind people. 🙂

Since we’re approaching our one year anniversary of having the townhouse and are wrapping up the season in which we go to Vero, I thought I could share one of the last looks I styled in Vero, along with some of my favorite parts about getting to live there on my vacations. Here are three of my favorite parts about Vero so far:

ONE // The weather + location: Vero has tropical, lush scenery and gorgeous, wide beaches. It’s a mix between old fashioned, bohemian Florida charm and up and trendy restaurants and elegant club communities. There are golf carts, lizards, HUGE palms, and abundant hibiscus bushes everywhere you turn. It’s hard not to be completely swept up and overwhelmed by it’s natural, well-kept beauty. I also cannot stop taking photos the whole time I’m there! It’s the most Instagrammable place ever ha.

TWO // The restaurants + shopping: There are so many delish restaurants and adorable boutique shops in and around Vero. Some of our favorite restaurants are The Tides for a fancy, UNREAL meal (get the Oatmeal Cake and I promise you will end up DMing me and thanking me for the rec ;)), Citron Bistro for Sunday brunch (get the popovers), and Kilwins for homemade ice cream. Some of our favorite boutiques are Sassy’s (which carries brands like Milly, Tory Burch, Trina Turk, etc. and was Johnny’s grandma’s favorite store 🙂 ), Vernon Scott (Johnny got my monogrammed stud earrings here and the men’s swim trunks are SO good), and Thread’s Consignment (I scored a bunch of vintage Lilly there + Chanel ballet flats!).

THREE // Relax + recouping: More than anywhere else I live or have lived, Vero Beach has the ability to allow me to relax and recoup the most. Maybe it’s because being in a townhouse in a community makes you feel like you’re at a resort instead of your own home, or it could be how serene and gorgeous the setting and natural beauty is. Either way– I feel truly far away from the real world whenever I’m there. It also doesn’t hurt that during my visits I frequent the White Orchid Spa at the Vero Beach Hotel for a massage or facial. The spa was just renovated and offers such a wonderful and relaxing break from the sun.

I hope you enjoyed this more in-depth look into why we well so in love with the magic of Vero Beach. Please leave a comment if you have any questions or tips about Vero at all. I would love to hear if you’ve visited, lived there, or have any recommendations! We are still learning so much and getting acquainted with the area so every tidbit of information is amazing. xx
