Hello there! I hope you had a nice weekend! Today I am talking all about the two and a half days I recently spent in Newport, Rhode Island. Yes, only two and a half days and we fit in time for a little bit of everything! I love to travel and visit new places– especially when they’re only five hours away by car, and include being by the Atlantic Ocean that I love so much. So I thought I’d share all of the details of where we stayed, where we went out to eat, where we shopped, and where we explored during our stay!

Where We Stayed
We were lucky enough to score a beautiful room at the absolutely gorgeous Castle Hill Inn. It is about a 15 minute drive from the town, shops, and restaurants of Newport, and it sits on a hill that overlooks the Narragansett Bay. We had the “Bridge Room,” which had old fashioned rose-colored wallpaper, a freestanding bath, and a pretty wooden dressing table that I got ready at each morning. The surrounding grounds of the inn are full of Adirondack chairs, big hydrangea bushes, and sprawling views of the harbor and passing sailboats. You can see more in my last OOTD post!
This is one of the beachside cottages that the Castle Hill Inn has for guests. I could not get over the nautical names of each cottage, the sea foam green color of the doors, and it’s prime location right next to the ocean! People, I love everything about this place!!!
Going Out to Eat
On the first night we were there, we decided we didn’t want to drive into town because we had already been in the car for so long earlier that day. So we asked if the inn provided transportation into town. And they did… in the form of a water taxi. We were so excited to get on a small ferry boat and cruise across the Narragansett Bay at sunset.
There’s nothing I love more than being by the water on a warm summer night!

We docked at Bannister’s Wharf and had dinner at the Black Pearl, where we had delicious salmon and chowder that we loved. We got chowder at every restaurant we went to– when in New England…
The following day I had my FIRST EVER lobster roll at The Midtown Oyster bar and restaurant. I ate the whole thing. And I was so happy.
We had lunch the second day at the Red Parrott and ate breakfast every morning at the Castle Hill Inn!
Shopping!
So of course some shopping had to occur while we were there. My first stop? The Pink Pineapple! This is one of my mom’s favorite stores online, and it was just as amazing as I expected! Full of statement jewelry, colorful clothing, and sparkly decor, I was in heaven!
We also picked up some Country Kettle fudge from one of my best friend’s family’s store… oreo fudge is a major weakness.
We did some more boutique shopping in Bannister’s Wharf, where we found this adorable shop. Can you tell why I fell in love with the color scheme of their products?!
Aside from all of this girlyness, this guy got these new sunglasses, and two ribbon belts (one with nautical flags, another with lobsters!)
Exploring Newport
We couldn’t visit Newport without touring a few of the famous mansions. Built in the late 1800s, these stunning palatial homes were like nothing I’ve ever seen before. They faintly reminded me of Versailles in France, except located on cliffs that overlooked the Atlantic Ocean. We saw the Marble House and Chateau Sur Mer, and I just about died when I saw the decor inside. Gold foil ceilings, lavender velvet drapery, floral fabric covered furniture, and Chinese-inspired tea houses on the lawn– talk about old fashioned luxury. I decided that I’ve clearly been born in the wrong century and am in definite need of a historic mansion “summer home” fit for a duchess.

The exploring continued when we did the Cliff Walk and walked past The Breakers mansion. We watched the sunset from the Adirondack chairs of Castle Hill, and drove past stunning private residences. I have always adored homes with big white columns out front…
This is the lighthouse located only a short walk from the Castle Hill Inn. It is old and weathered, yet looks magnificent standing all by itself on the cliff!
And finally… when we saw these teeny tiny brightly colored cars zooming along Ocean Drive, we knew that we just HAD to try it for ourselves! With a helmet, Bose speakers, and an iced coffee (of course), there was no holding me back. Lots of sight seeing, dancing, and singing occurred while we cruised in this thing, but don’t tell my dad that… #safetyfirst.
I can honestly say that these two and a half days were some of the best times I’ve had so far this summer! I highly recommend swinging by Newport when you get the chance and experiencing all of the New England charm and fun it has to offer!
