Writing this post from my bed this afternoon because there is not a lot of energy left in this girl (which is saying a lot). Yesterday I took the train straight from New York City to Oaks, Pennsylvania where the Lilly Pulitzer Warehouse Sale is held! There I met my mom, who had been there since noon… completely sane, right??
There were around 150-200 people in front of her when she got there at that time, which really isn’t a lot at all, because we ended up being in the first chunk of people to enter the sale which was our goal! I missed a lot of the pre-party festivities by arriving so late at night, and I’m ashamed to say that I couldn’t even really hang because I was so worn down from three days of my internship— so I ended up just falling asleep in my mom’s car while she slept in line and held our spot. Perks of being a small human who can fall asleep basically anywhere…
My party outfit:
The line started forming around 3:30 in the morning, which was earlier than years past. We heard a rumor that someone turned the light switch on in the tent and then naturally chaos ensued when everyone woke up and tried to secure their standing spot in line! Around 3:00, I awoke to hundreds of women scurrying about in the dark parking lot in their colorful fleece pajamas, putting away their lounge chairs, locking car doors, trying not to spill their coffees everywhere– you can imagine. It was quite a scene.
We only stood in the line outside for about an hour, and were let into the warehouse to form a line there around 4:30. At that time, there were at least a thousand people in a huge line that snaked all the way around the warehouse. We think this is the largest crowd we’ve ever seen before– maybe due to all of the Lilly or Target hype?? We were energized, caffeinated, and had dreams of bright patterns and inexpensive shift dresses dancing in our minds, so before we knew it it was 5:00 am and we were being let into the sale!
Our party crowd:
We joined up with one of my mom’s best friends from college (her sorority Little!!) and her daughters/friends. They are fellow Lilly-lovers and are the cutest ever.

Before we entered the sale this year, the warehouse sale employees passed out contracts that stated the rules of the sale. It mentioned that we were not allowed to take photos inside the sale, so out of respect for their rules I don’t have any pictures from the inside of the sale to share. But, it pretty much resembled a flock of hundreds of crazed ladies rushing past in a blur of patterned popovers, dragging along mesh bags three times their size, stuffed to the brim. And then a whole lot of chit chat as we tried things on and sorted through our collections!
We spent about four hours in the sale and made out wonderfully!! Our most favorite scores include the sample cashmere sweaters and wraps ($30 each!!!), the Janice shift dresses, and the cropped work out leggings! We’ve now decided that between this and Lilly for Target, we are fast approaching a Lilly overdose this year… but then again, is there really even such a thing?! #TooMuchIsNeverEnough
I’d love to hear about your experience if you were at the sale as well! I’m a little bit bummed that this part of the year is now over, but camping (ha) does take a lot out of you… my mom is currently asleep on our pink polka dotted couch at home– she is a Lilly warehouse sale veteran who now deserves the weekend off! Carry on Lilly warriors!
