Happy Hump Day! I thought I’d brighten up the midweek by reminiscing on my Memorial Day Weekend festivities! I spent the weekend on Long Beach Island with my family and boyfriend (I also got to see one of my best friends who was home from college for the weekend.. that was such a treat!) Even though it rained a little in the beginning, we still had a great time all being together and spending time in our favorite place.

My weekend getaway bags included a neon embroidered tote (full of sunscreen and aloe… it was necessary), a striped lobster t-shirt, a Vineyard Vines beach bag with my yacht club’s burgee, and of course my silver Jack Rogers! Also, our pool was open and ready!

Morning breakfast of fresh berries and French vanilla coffee are my favorite when eaten on the front porch of the shore house. There’s nothing like a morning ocean breeze and snuggling on the couch with my dog, Liberty, to start off my day.

I ran to the end of the island where there is a nature reserve and a surfing beach. Even though it was an overcast day, it was still beautiful!

It’s so calm at the very end of the island, and the ocean is such a pretty blue/green color. This is one of my favorite spots to visit.

Here’s Chris in the hot tub making his “manly face” which cracks me up but also makes me uncomfortable… I spent an absurd amount of time just relaxing in the hot tub. So much so that the bottom 3 inches of my pony tail turned LIME GREEN from the chlorine. I’m not kidding. I had to use baking soda to get it out but that dried my ends so much that I just got it cut off (I needed a trim anyway). Note to self: don’t spend 5+ hours in the hot tub right after it opens for the summer! Also, I’ve heard that if you wet your hair before you get into a pool or hot tub then the chlorine doesn’t absorb as easily. Anyone happen to know about this? Advice would be much appreciated!

Confessions of a girl who can spend wayy too much time in a hot tub…

Ok, so these are gelato popsicles at a newly opened shop called “POPularity.” I know, puns and ice cream are two of my favorite things. So we had to try them out– and they were so good! I got the funfetti flavor with rainbow sprinkles and Chris got the s’mores flavor. We ate them while we watched Blackfish, the documentary about killer whales acting out against the trainers at Seaworld. Needless to say, the popsicles really lightened the mood. But I do recommend seeing Blackfish (it’s on Netflix!)

Selfies while taking refuge from the rain. Just assume that I’ll be wearing this Vineyard Vines shep shirt (from their 25% off sale) on EVERY breezy night this summer. It’s that perfect.

Our very yellow and cheery house. It looked so sweet and pretty against the blue skies (the sun came out toward the end of the weekend) that I had to capture it! Also, as I shared on Instagram, my mom just figured out how to monogram our front door, which was a major game changer. Remember my post featuring the The Spotted Zebra? You can find monograms like this there!

My big from my sorority sent me a quote the other day that said, “She believes a monogram says more than a name and will use it any place she can.” Couldn’t agree more.
A closer look:

I was on a run with my mom when I spotted this hot pink car from afar. I knew that I had to check it out (it is my dream car after all) and it turned out to belong to an Elvis look-alike who rode it in LBI’s Memorial Day Parade. I thought it was so hysterical that I asked for a picture with him! Now how do I get to ride with him in next year’s parade…

I hope you also had a relaxing and fun-filled Memorial Day Weekend! Let me know what you did and how you celebrated the start of summer!
