My Word for 2017
Happy 2017!!! A few days before the new year I overheard someone talking about what their “word” was going to be for 2017. Happy 2017!!! A few days before the new year I overheard someone talking about what their “word” was going to be for 2017. They were describing how they were going to make 2017 all about revolving around this word and how they were going to try to live their life out in accordance with this word. So naturally, always one to try the latest trend, I was all “oh oh I want to do that too!!”? So I decided that instead of a new year’s resolution (which I’ve never really made– I majorly lack self-control and trying to adhere to new year’s resolutions only accentuates this… ha), I started thinking about what magical word I could try to live out every day of 2017.
Of course I was all over the place to start. I thought about words like “simplify” because of the chaos that consumes my life every day (I think multi-tasking is a lifestyle). I also thought about “change” or “adaptation” since I know this year will bring about a lot of new experiences, since I will be graduating, moving, and starting a career. But though these things are true, and I definitely do need to simplify my excessive everyday life and be cognizant of the change occurring, I thought that there really is no more perfect word for 2017— a year that will be consist of my last semester of college, fun travels, new places, and lots of time sepnt with my favorite people– than the word “celebrate.”
I thought that “celebrate” encapsulates the major events I know are occurring in 2017 and represents the exact kind of spirit that I want to abide by throughout everything. To me, “celebrate” means choose play over work (eep), live in the moment, treasure the time I have with my people, and take every old tradition or new change as an opportunity to pop open a bottle of champagne and get out the cocktail napkins and cheese spread 😉
Of course, I know that there will be many moments and instances that occur that I will have not planned for or predicted, but I hope that I will still be able to find the little victories or celebrations within them or afterwards. I will be sure to update you with how it’s going as 2017 progresses! xxo ?
