Hello there! I finally got the chance to sit down and read a book I’ve been dying to read for a while. It’s called Southern Charm written by Tinsley Mortimer, who is a New York City socialite that starred on the reality television show High Society and has been featured in other television shows, such as Gossip Girl, and high profile fashion publications, such as Vogue.
Without giving anything away, Southern Charm is about southern belle, Minty Davenport, who grew up in Charleston, but moves to New York City after she graduates college to pursue a career in fashion. Minty is a kindhearted, naive, and pink-loving “It Girl” who finds herself working for a ruthless boss, socializing with an exclusive group of wealthy and powerful NYC natives, and facing troubling concerns about her first love and prince charming. The story takes you through Minty’s journey to stay true to her southern manners and feminine grace and poise, while trying to navigate the tumultuous ups and downs of work, friendships, and love in the harsh but magical setting of New York City. Southern Charm is a must read if you love fashion, New York City, or the high society southern and NYC lifestyle! (There is also mention of Eloise and the Plaza, who I grew up adoring!)
This is a quick read and the ideal spring break book (I read it on the beach in St. Lucia), so grab a copy for yourself and let me know what you think!
