Spring Break Recap

Hello there! After sharing multiple outfit posts from my spring break in Jamaica, I am finally doing a spring break recap! I went with 5 of my closes girlfriends from Richmond, and I can honestly say it was one of the most relaxing and fun weeks I’ve ever had. Hello there! After sharing multiple outfit posts from my spring break in Jamaica, I am finally doing a spring break recap! I went with 5 of my closes girlfriends from Richmond, and I can honestly say it was one of the most relaxing and fun weeks I’ve ever had. It didn’t hurt that we stayed at an amazing all-inclusive resort tucked in a cove of Montego Bay, the Hilton Rose Hall Inn

It’s safe to say that our main vacation activities consisted of eating the white chocolate rice krispies from the desert bar at the buffet, lying around tanning by the pools/beach and trading magazines, taking a nap at 4:00 pm sharp each day, and getting all glammed up for a late dinner (surprise, more eating!) every night. Pretty much a perfect agenda.

However, actually getting there was not a breeze– to say the least:

Our first leg of the plane ride to Jamaica left at 5:30 am. So naturally I stayed up all. night. long. I actually didn’t get in my bed. I was all hyped up about going on spring break with my best friends and worried about doing my last-minute to-do’s that I just was still awake at 3:30 am when it was time to leave for the airport. I packed my brand new (rather large) suitcase that my mom had recently gotten me with everything I needed for my trip (glitter monogrammed koozies for each of us, a bunch of Lulu Lemon work out tops that I NEVER used on the trip, and my Lilly Pulitzer speakers— you know, the essentials.)

As expected, my suitcase was the largest one out of our group. We had to throw it down four flights of stairs (I live in a dorm that was build in 1914 when elevators weren’t a thing– um, why.) and I endured all of the “omg-what-on-earth-is-in-here” comments that come along with being a rather high maintenance human.

When we finally got ourselves to the airport and it was my turn to weigh my suitcase, I bragged about how I am famous for packing a 49.99 lb bag and not being fined the $100 extra dollars for having an overweight bag (true story). Buttt, when I put the bag on the scale I was in for it. It weighed 76 lbs. That is over the limit by more than FIFTEEN POUNDS.

I was mortified and immediately became one of those people who has to open their entire suitcase full of personal belongings (think: small bras and my retainers–  yes, I have multiple retainers..) at the check-in line in front of dozens of other passengers to move stuff around. Thankfully, my friends took pity on me and I ended up putting a lot of my toiletries and my digital camera in their bags. The best part? After I removed those items, I was still five pounds overweight. When I was wondering WHAT ON EARTH was still so heavy in my bag, I remembered all of the boxes of Cheez-Its that I had packed. Yes, I had made sure to pack a couple boxes of my favorite snack-time crackers and they weighted FIVE POUNDS. Once I removed the Cheez-Its, (I was left carrying them, my friends ran out of sympathy…) my suitcase weighed in at a glorious 50.00 pounds. I swear, this was an ordeal and I was sweating by the time all of the rearranging had ended.

It got better when we had to sprint to our connecting flight because our first one was delayed. There we were– six girls in our Theta spirit jerseys, spray tans and all– running as fast as our packed Longchamps (and plastic bags of Cheez-Its in my case) would allow us to go from the A to F terminal in the Phili airport. We arrived right as they were making the final boarding calls for our flight, thanking the good Lord.

Needless to say, we were all passed out sound asleep within five minutes of lying down on the beach lounge chairs in Jamaica that afternoon.

At least it was a pretty flight!

Overlooking one of the pools on the property.

The “fun pool” where we hung out a lot. You can waterside to the swim up bar. Yes, that is a thing.

A peek of where we took our afternoon naps!

My girlies flaunting their bikinis in the ocean.

Risking everything and bringing my iPhone in the ocean to capture this colorful pic. #anythingfortheInsta

We each had about 12 too many fruity drinks each day.

A close up of my favorite one! Tropical Dream…

If you go out to dinner in a great outfit and didn’t take a picture of it, did you ever even wear it?

We hunted down the resident “coconut guy” to snag us a real coconut. The milk was so refreshing and I definitely needed the hydration after all of that sun!
(kind of taking on the whole island bohemian goddess thing with this head wrap, don’t ya think?!)

All of us all fancied up for a dinner for Nicole’s (4th from the left!) birthday which happened to be one of the nights we were there! If there’s anything we’re good at doing, it’s celebrating.

I’ve always found that the beach is the cure for my worries, troubles, and silly stresses. Nothing in the world relaxes me more than a dip in a warm ocean and the feeling of a warm sun and sea breeze!

Has anyone else been to Jamaica and loved it as well?!
