Travel Diary: Nantucket 2016

Finally getting our Nantucket Travel Diary up and putting it together is bringing back all the happy summertime memories. It was my post-work, pre-school trip and I can honestly say it was one of my favorite vacations ever. This was our second year in a row staying at the Union Street Inn, and it was just as charming and comfortable as we had remembered. The location and accommodations are unparalleled and the hospitality of the staff is beyond awesome. This year we planned our Nantucket trip with my mom's best friend from college and her daughters, which was SO FUN. They had their car on island so we got to do a bunch of activities that we hadn't had the chance to do the previous visit. Nothing like a trip with our long-time besties in one of our favorite spots in the world. This is the room we've stayed in for the past two years. It's probably the most "us" room we've ever stayed in. {photo via here} MUST-DO'S Drive out to Great Point Beach Hands-down one of the coolest things I've ever done. Windows down, music up, we drove all the way out to Great Point Light on the beach. Nothing sums up summer quite like that. I was in heaven. I can't even convey how absolutely stunning the homes and gardens were. They were so historic, extravaggent, and over-the-top gorgeous. Every one had its unique personality and sweet little details-- definitely a must-do if you happen to be in Nantucket when the tour is going on. Beach it at Nobadeer On our first day we changed into our bikinis as soon as we got off the plane drove our to Nobadeer beach. We drained some of the air in our tires and drove out onto the beach, which I had never done before. It was basically like tailgating on the beach. So. cool. Also, I came across this really great guide to the beaches on Nantucket. bikini here, use the code Amy25 for 25% off your order: Madaket Sunset We drove out to Madaket one night and brought a cooler full of drinks (can you say spiked seltzer??!) and watched the sunset. For summertime sunsets, this one is hard to beat. Shop, Shop, Shop Nantucket has to be one of our favorite places in the world to shop. It's the mecca of adorable little boutiques and hidden treasures. Self-control is a lost cause. This year's purchase from C.J. Laing. It was CALLING my name.  MUST-EATS Galley Beach We decided to have dinner here this summer and the sunset and sophisticated beach vibes didn't disappoint. I got the escargot and a pain killer cocktail and was in heaven. Boarding House This restaurant was so cozy and delish! We ate inside and it kind of reminded me of a cave bar in Prague, which of course made me so happy. They had the best corn bread and an extensive wine list. Met on Main We ate here for lunch one day and it was such comfort food. We're talking chowder, calamari, macaroni, and pitchers of margaritas. Because, vacation. ;) Cru Honestly one of the coolest restaurants I've ever been to. The atmosphere is nautical chic and the seafood and drinks are phenom. Walk and shop around Straight Wharf (also, scout out the yachts *heart eyes*) and then have dinner and drinks here! Walking around Straight Wharf + rosé at Cru!  Juice Bar Calories don't count on vacation... wait in line in between shopping and get all the scoops.. Lola Burger We picked up milkshakes here one day after the beach. YUM. Handlebar Cafe I would walk here from our inn for a coffee on the go every morning, as seen here!
