I’ve been back from my holiday break in Vero Beach for a few days now (I had two days of work after the new year and now it’s already the weekend!) and have been editing all of the photos that I took while I was there.

The Friday night after Christmas we had a little dinner to celebrate the engagement of my boyfriend’s (Johnny) older brother and his fiancé. We all went to college together at the University of Richmond (Johnny and his brother were fraternity brothers too and Johnny’s brother’s fiancé and I were sorority sisters!). So we’ve known each other for years!

Another fun fact is that Johnny’s family also has a house in Vero Beach, Florida (in a different community a few miles down the road from where we live). So we all get to spend a good amount of time together when we’re in Vero Beach for holidays and breaks.

Rainy Holiday Break

This holiday, my family decided to get everyone together for a little outdoor shindig in our new backyard! We actually had a pretty rainy Christmas/New Year’s holiday break while we were in Vero, and this day was no exception. The Vero Beach dinner party was planned for the Friday after Christmas. It literally poured for most of the day. Thankfully, in the days prior we bought a tent and lit up the whole backyard with spotlights and twinkle lights, so we would at least be dry and well lit 😊.

During our setup on the day of the rain was pretty off and on. Thankfully, it stopped completely about 45 minutes before everyone came over! We still kept the tent up though, because it ended up being pretty cozy (we hung white Christmas lights inside on the rafters of the tent!). Moreover, I was able to snap a few quick photos of the setup right before dinner, because I loved how it came out so much!

Here’s a bit more about the setup:

We rented the table and chairs from Elegant Events in Vero, mom and I found this block print tablecloth on Amazon (what do they not have?!). In addition, we filled small clear vases with white hydrangeas and lilies for the florals. And we used the plates that we already had in our house, my mom found the bamboo candle holders at Hobby Lobby, and we had it catered by Chelsea’s Gourmet in Vero. Moreover, we had fresh shrimp cocktail, margaritas, chips and guac, and a make-your-own taco station (which was at the end of the long table outside!).

Of course, there was lots of champagne popping and even a piñata involved 😊. It was such a hysterical and fun time! Though the decorations of a party can help set the tone, it’s ultimately the company you’re with and the conversations and laughter that ensue during that can turn it into such a special and memorable evening. 😊

Turns out that we can now throw a backyard party at our new place! So who wants to come over for a drink?! xx
