Here is the full outline and itinerary of our Rome and Amalfi Coast *dream* trip. I say dream because it really was like living in a fairytale the whole time. It was the trip of a lifetime and honestly some of my favorite days of my whole entire life. I can’t express how unreal and breathtaking the views, the food, and the hotels were. Also, we felt like we were welcomed into Italy by the kindest people and the most gorgeous weather ever— which, along with my mom’s unreal planning (she created this itinerary and booked everything herself), made for the best trip I’ve ever been on.

I wanted to put the full outline here, so it’s easy to see it all in one place. But this is really just the bare bones of the trips, so go to the individual Travel Diaries (linked below under each day), to see the full descriptions and our opinions of the activities, restaurants, and resorts. We took notes as we went along the trip, so you’d get our in-the-moment reactions and feelings! I include tips throughout every travel diary, but my first major tip is that we used a driving company, Jack the Driver, to pick us up and drive us to each location throughout our stay. They were phenomenal at picking us up where we were, touring us throughout the Amalfi coast and Italian countryside, and dropping us off safely at our next destination. We loved each of the drivers (there are many within the company) and they made the logistics of our trip so easy and relaxing (tbh I slept most of the time in the car, ha!).

Day 1: Rome

• We left the states around 5:30 pm and flew out of JFK directly to Rome. We slept on the plane and got to the hotel around 9:30 am.
• That morning we walked around the Piazza Navona and had a private tour of the Pantheon, the Roman ruins, and the Colosseum (For our tours in Rome, we used Romasi Tour Guides and they provide luxury history tours. I would highly recommend them– especially for the Vatican. They will buy your tickets ahead of time so that you can skip all of the lines and get right into Vatican City. That was a game changer! ).

• Stayed in: Hotel Raphael (“Terrace Suite” 518)

Day 2: Rome

• We had breakfast at our hotel and then walked ourselves to the Trevi Fountain.
• We ate gelato from Giolitti which is about a 5-10 minute walk from the Trevi Fountain. 
• Then we had a private tour of Vatican City for a few hours. (For our tours in Rome we used Romasi Tour Guides and they provide luxury history tours. I would highly recommend them– especially for the Vatican. They will buy your tickets ahead of time so that you can skip all of the lines and get right into Vatican City. That was a game changer!)
• In the evening we had drinks on the rooftop of Hotel Raphael.

• Stayed in: Hotel Raphael again

Day 3: Pompeii & Sorrento

• Had breakfast again at the Hotel Raphael (it’s a full organic breakfast that was delicious).
• A driver took us two and half hours to Pompeii.
• Had a private tour of Pompeii for about 2 hours.
• Our driver waited for us while we were on the tour of Pompeii, and we then drove 45 minutes more to Sorrento.
• There we checked into our hotel, walked around, shopped, and admired the beauty of the mediterranean that was on the edge of town.

• Stayed in: Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria (Room 106)

Day 4: Sorrento & Positano

• We had breakfast at the resort’s buffet breakfast.
• We then laid by the resort pool and relaxed until the early afternoon.
• After that we checked out of the hotel and took the train tour throughout Sorrento and did some last minute shopping. 
• Mid-afternoon we took a car thorough the windy roads of the Amalfi Coast to Positano and checked into our hotel.

• Stayed in: Hotel Il San Pietro (Stayed in suite 59)

Day 5: Positano

• We had a buffet breakfast on the resort’s terrace (best breakfast of the trip).
• Took the hotel’s complimentary boat tour around the coast.
• We then hung out by the pool on the upper terrace of the resort.
• In the early afternoon we got dressed and went into town and shopped around and had drinks at the GORGEOUS Franco’s Bar (which is part of the hotel Le Serinuse). 
• We then walked down to the bottom of the town by the beach for dinner.

• Stayed in: Hotel Il San Pietro

Day 6: Capri

• We had breakfast at the resort again and then took a boat over to Da Adolfo in the morning to sit on the beach there and have a drink.
• We took a boat from the hotel to the public high-speed ferry in Positano which then took us over to Capri. 
• We then took the cable car from the base of Capri to the main square and walked to our hotel. 
• After checking in, we had a bite to eat at the hotel’s outdoor restaurant and sat by the pool.

• Stayed in: Hotel la Scalinatella

Day 7: Capri

• Had breakfast on the hotel’s deck (they hand out mini jars of nutella… it’s dangerous).
• Picked up a private boat from the beach club, La Fontelina, which took us on a tour all around the coast of the island and into the little grottos (caves). 
• Toured the grottos along the coast and then got dropped off in a little rowboat that took us into the Blue Grotto.
• Got off the water there and took a bus up to Anacapri.
• There we explored the surrounding area and walked all over, grabbing a slice of pizza and peeking into churches along the way. 
• We walked back to Vittoria Square and caught the lift up to the very top of Anacapri. From there we took a cab back to our hotel.

Day 8: Ravello

• We had breakfast on the hotel’s deck again.
• Took the cable car back down to the base of the island and then took the public ferry back to Positano. 
• Met a driver in Positano and drove to Ravello. 
• There we checked into our hotel and then walked around the small town of Ravello and into Villa Cimbrone.
• We went back to the resort and got in the rooftop hot tubs and drank the complimentary bottle of champagne (like who do we think we are?!!) ha.

• Stayed in: Palazzo Avino 

Day 9: Ravello and Rome

• We woke up early and had a buffet breakfast on the resort’s terrace.
• After that we relaxed by the resort’s swimming pool.
• Walked into town and explored Villa Rufolo (which is the villa that’s pretty much in the town of Ravello, whereas Villa Cimbrone is about a 15 minute walk from the town square).
• We got a snack to go from the town square and were picked up around noon to drive back to Rome.
• We checked in at our hotel in Rome in the late afternoon and walked around the Spanish Steps (which we hadn’t visited yet), went back to the Trevi Fountain, and had yet another cone of gelato from Giolitti.

• Stayed in: Hotel Hassler

Day 10: Rome

• Flew out from Rome in the morning and had a layover in Madrid before flying back to JFK. xx
