My Very Own Clothing Rental Site!

In June I introduced Á La Mode, my clothing rental service that carries a ton of my favorite brands and allows you to rent up to ten items AT ONCE (for as long as you want) with UNLIMITED clothing exchanges 🤯. It’s been a total dream come true to have so many of you rent gorgeous styles from it so far. And now I’m finally sitting down to share a thorough Q&A of all of its cool features and perks!

What is Á La Mode?

À La Mode is an unlimited rental subscription service that makes it easy for you to wear new looks all month long without any commitment. We have everything from seasonal staples to statement pieces, and you can rent endless styles each month.

Why is it called Á La Mode?

The phrase Á La Mode actually has two meanings: “stylish and fashionable” and “topped with ice cream.” There’s no better description for the site than “stylish and fashionable” and I love the cheeky double meaning (ice cream is my favorite food behind pizza 😂). That also harks back to my first ever job at age 14, which was scooping ice cream at an ice cream shop in Long Beach Island. Also when abbreviated À La Mode is “ALM,” which is my new married monogram too!

How much does it cost?

Your first month is free and after that you can rent endless styles each month for just $125/month. That’s about the cost of one dress to wear to a wedding or a nice new sweater. Instead of spending money on one item, you can get 20+ styles each month, depending on how often you exchange your items!

How does it work?

Once you create an account, you can explore the collections and fill your “virtual closet” in your account. Once you have enough styles in your virtual closet (it will let you know once you’ve filled it up!) that will trigger your first box of styles to be sent out to you! You can receive five items at a time to wear for as long as you’d like, then return them when you’re ready to switch them out for more.

What brands do you carry?

We have dozens of premium brands that you can rent styles from. Rhode, Cynthia Rowley, Hemant and Nandita, Vince, Show Me Your Mumu, Farm Rio, CeliaB, Banjanan, Saylor, Amanda Uprichard, Sachin & Babi, English Factory, Nicole Miller… and we are adding new brands all of the time! New styles hit the site every Monday too.

How many times can I switch out my styles?

You can switch up your look all month long with unlimited box exchanges, free dry cleaning, and free shipping. Your styles will come with a prepaid USPS label that’s already on a shipping package ready for you to pop in the mail. When you’re ready to return any styles, just throw them in there and mail it out. Then you can go into your account and press “return” on those styles, which will trigger your next box to be sent out!

How can I get more than five styles at a time?

As soon as you go through the process online to return the styles you currently have (see the next question for how to do that) then it will trigger your next box to be sent out. You can then keep the items you currently have and keep wearing them even when your next box arrives. Then just send back any of the styles via the prepaid shipping package whenever you’re done with them!

How do I return an item?

Click the hanger icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page to access your Closet. From your At-Home section, click “Return Item” just below the item you would like to send back. Enter your feedback and click Submit. As long as you have met your closet minimum and your account is in good standing, this action will trigger your next shipment.

Do I have to send back all of the styles at once?

No! You can keep any styles for as long as you’d like, and just send back the ones you’d like to exchange for new pieces.

Do I need to wash anything before sending it back?

No you don’t! All of the styles are dry cleaned for you once you send them back, through an extensive cleaning process that ensures all of the pieces are thoroughly sanitized. Once cleaned, everything is processed through a high-heat steam tunnel that exceeds the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines. After each styles is cleaned thoroughly, it is inspected three times in our state-of-the-art laundry facility before being shipped out. Each box is also packed by hand, so the clothing that reaches you will be in À La Mode-approved condition!

Can I prioritize what I receive?

Of course! To prioritize which styles you want the most, click the hanger icon in the upper right-hand corner of the website and then select “On-the-Rack.” Find the item you wish to prioritize and click “ON” next to Prioritize. Our system will take those items into consideration first before other items in your Closet.

How do I make sure that I receive the exact items I want?

Use the “Dart” feature to pick the exact styles that you want! Dart allows you to select and expedite items from your Closet to ship within the next business day for an additional $7 plus applicable taxes per Darted shipment. That way you can make sure you receive the specific item you want!
