Cocktail of the Week:
Oh, just every cocktail I tried at Barmini in Washington, DC! It’s a swanky craft-cocktail bar with innovative cocktails that smoke, come in pineapples, light on fire, you name it. They’re So. Cool. My bestie who lives in DC made us a reservation there about a month and a half in advance and it was 100% worth it. Such a fun and unique experience– I’d highly recommend looking into it if you’re in the DC area!
Life Updates:
It’s been so long friends! I have ALL of September to cover. Let’s start with the weekends. I spent a weekend in NYC, a weekend at the shore for a friend’s wedding, a weekend in Philly while my parents moved into their new place right outside of Philly, and another weekend in NYC/DC, then it was off to Mexico with my girlfriends! Whew! I feel like I’ve been packing/unpacking so I’m so looking forward to two back-to-back weekends in the Philly area now (even though one of them will be an overnight staycation…). I hosted my best friends at the shore for Labor Day Weekend, had a celebratory first glass of wine in my parent’s new home, learned how to play the card game Rummy in Mexico, went to my first Flyer’s game in Philly, got my Pennsylvania ID (whaat?!), saw Crazy Rich Asians in NYC (couldn’t recommend it enough), and decorated our apartment for fall (there’s a white or glitter pumpkin on every surface). So many good, happy, fulfilling activities since I last checked in with you in my last Cocktail Hour post!
Now, my fall will settle down into more local travel between Philly and NYC, with one trip to Palm Beach because you know I can’t stay away from Florida for long. 🙂 Friends, I’m so ready for a cozy fall season exploring Philly and the greater PA!
Pit of the Week:
You guys, I got SO sick when I was in Washington, DC two weekends ago. I am going to 100% blame the Dunkin’ Donuts iced coffee I had in Penn Station in the early AM. It was sooo sweet I could hardly drink it (and nothing is too sweet for me) but I needed the caffeine so I chugged half of it and PAID FOR THAT DECISION later on in the day. I was walking around Georgetown shopping with two of my best friends (my big and my little from my sorority) and consistently felt dizzy and nauseous. After picking up a birthday gift for my mom at Tuckernuck, I had to go sit down in the Georgetown Lilly store because I felt so awful! (If anything, you’ll always find a pretty place to sit and a bottle of water at a Lilly store– we have the BEST store teams.) It subsided for a little bit in the afternoon and I was able to stomach a few cocktails (ha) but then wound up having to leave dinner early and go back to my friend’s apartment and lie in the fetal position in her bed. UGH. Nausea can be the worst feeling sometime. Luckily, I woke up on Sunday feeling a million times better. I guess it had to just run through my system! Sorry for that TMI pit.
Peak of the Week:
Getting to spend some quality time with my chicks!! I really just had the best time being with both my big/little in DC and then four of my five best friends from college in Mexico (we missed you Meg!). I’m so lucky that my girlfriends want to live life to the fullest in everything they do– whether it’s treating ourselves to a night out at a fancy cocktail bar or spontaneously booking a trip to Mexico. They are MY kind of people and I’m consistently impressed by how they have their lives SO together but yet are still able to get DOWN, let loose, and have the best time. I get them for a full weekend in Philly next weekend as well! We’re making the weekend “Autumn Harvest” themed so it will include all fall-related activities and food/drinks (I hate us too… ?).
Wellness Tidbit of the Week:
I brought these lavender towelettes on the plane on my trip to Mexico and couldn’t recommend them more. They’re like a little essential oil wipe on-the-go and add a little bit of comfort and luxury to what would otherwise be not so comfortable and luxurious (a plane ride ha).
Favorite Thing Seen on the Internet This Week:
This episode of The Morning Toast (the podcast I listen to every day) with Heather McMahan. She’s a new comedian I’ve started following on Instagram and is absolutely hysterical. Seriously, give it a watch or a listen if you need a good belly laugh today!
Best Deal of the Week:
One of my favorite feminine and darling brands, Lauren James is having a MAJOR sale right now where everything is $8. Yes, you read that right. They make so many of my favorite feminine styles so scoop up a bunch now at this too-good-to-be-true price! Use the code “AMYLC” when you checkout.
IBIP Obsession of the Week:
This mermaid seashell bag that’s really a flask. That’s right. It’s hysterical and adorable all at once and will make you the most popular girl on your next tropical trip, ha! 😉
Your Favorite Item Seen on IBIP This Week:
Two Revolve styles! This color-block Revolve one piece bathingsuit (currently on sale and runs TTS!) and this Revolve pink lace romper (also on sale, but for $32!). It also comes in a gorgeous lavender color and runs TTS. I have the XS in both styles!
Thank you so much for your patience as I got this next Cocktail Hour post up. As always, it means the absolute world to me to get to share so much of my life with you! Until next time… xx
