Welcome to Our Apartment!

Come on in, we’re so thrilled to be sharing the first look into our apartment, the dining area! It’s the first thing you see when you walk into the apartment, so I figured we’d start here in terms of the blog post tours.

As you could tell from our apartment design schemes, we wanted it to be inviting and make a bit of a statement (I do love a grand entrance 😊). When I started searching for our plates and flatware this summer (I planned aggressively early for this apartment 😊) I came across Fete Home on Instagram (you can find them at @fetehome) and was immediately drawn in by all of the stunning items they carried.

I see a lot of pretty tablescapes on Instagram, but Fete Home’s beautifully bold fabrics and hand-painted dinnerware was next level. I also saw that they were founded by two women who have many years of experience as designers and hostesses… going with them for the dinnerware was probably the easiest (and actually one of the very first!) decisions we made for the whole apartment!

Now after having and using these Fete Home items since we’ve moved in, I want to gush all about them. I mean, have you ever seen a navy tablescape look like so much FUN?! We chose this Meraki tablecloth to anchor the table setting (best part: it’s machine washable!), along with these woven octagonal placements, these blue flower dinner plates, these beaded salad plates, this bistro tortoise flatware (I think it adds such a handsome touch!), and these navy hemstitch napkins + two-toned bone napkin rings! We topped it off with their blue confetti tumblers, which are officially the happiest cups I’ve ever seen and really pull everything together.

I picked everything out early in the summer, and then visited Johnny’s family in July, where I saw that his mom has the bowl version of the blue flower dinner plates! She told me they had been handed down from Johnny’s grandmother. I couldn’t get over it and knew we had definitely chosen right. 😊 Speaking of Johnny, you’ll notice a signed Scottie Pippen photo in the background, both Adnan and Johnny are from right outside Chicago, and I’m told that this was a must for the space. 😊

Our interior designer, Adnan Anwar, helped me make the selections for the full tablescape, and I wanted him to share his thought process for the  room as well–

“The dining area is the first thing you see when you walk in. We chose a white round table and chairs to act like a center table in an entry. It’s is easy to walk around and makes a statement without taking up much visual space. It lets Amy’s china be the star of the show. My favorite finds were the blue flower plates and confetti tumblers. The oversized bar cart is a beachy vignette that helps define this as a dining room in an open floorpan apartment. And it’s the perfect assembly line for Amy’s legendary painkillers… or Johnny’s favorite margarita.”

As for the table and chairs, we snagged the table from our home in Vero Beach (thank you mom!!), which you may remember from our old townhouse tour (it’s on my list to do a tour of our new home there this winter!). And my mom also found the chippendale chairs at a Pier 1 sale, which we spray painted in white (you can see the how-to in this  TikTok video of mine) and then covered with the Schumacher ‘zipster’ fabric. I like how the table is the perfect size for a round table cloth (like the Fete Home one we have on it in these photos!) and is decorative enough to stand on its own.

I’m so thrilled to welcome you all into the apartment with this first apartment tour post, and share the first of a few brands that helped bring our vision and my apartment dreams to life. Below I rounded up a few additional picks that I am eyeing from Fete Home as well. Enjoy looking through their gorgeous site! xx
