The Decor
The table is set and the tree is brimming with enough vintage glass ornaments to to make me never want to get a pet… our holiday apartment decor tour is here!
This is only the second year I’ve fully decorated for Christmas from ‘scratch’ (i.e. not having any decor from roommates to share, but getting to do it all with Johnny now!) and it’s been so much fun to start collecting meaningful Christmas decor. Throughout these photos you’ll find little touches of our past memories and favorite places and people (much like the rest of the decor in our apartment! 😉).
There’s a ceramic Christmas tree candle holder from when we went to Salzburg, Austria with my family when we were both studying abroad, a gorgeous crystal ornament from Johnny’s parents that they gave us for our first holiday living together last year, and the hand-me-down Spode Christmas China that my parents gave us this year, because I have so many fond memories of eating from it on Christmas Eve and day!
I was also really inspired by the over-the-top warm and colorful Christmas decor in the 1940s– think bright glass ornaments, tinsel, an excess of twinkle lights, and women getting all dolled up to do their decorating 😂.. I shared more of my inspo in this recent Tiktok!
I’m a big believer in creating a welcoming, warm, and personal space for the holidays, and I hope these photos reflect that. I have to thank my mama for instilling that in me and making it easy to follow in her footsteps now that Johnny and I decorating ourselves!
