Welcome to Our Bedroom!

I cannot believe we’re on the final apartment tour post! From the dining area, living room, and my office, we’ve really covered it all (besides the kitchen and bathrooms, which I’ll share on my Instagram stories sometime soon!).

Today is all about our bedroom, which Adnan and I wanted to create as a calming oasis for Johnny and me. I talked about this more in our apartment inspiration post, but we wanted to stick to french blue and white, with lots of neutral, coastal touches like rattan and linen. I really wanted it to feel softer than the living room and be a relaxing space for us to retreat to, and of course for Johnny to work in while he’s still working from home.

Here Adnan’s thought process describes the room as well–

“Amy wanted the bedroom to have a very different vibe than the living space. The blue and white scheme we landed on is serene and calming. We mixed patterns in the blue and white family on the rug, pillows, bedding, and art to give the space more dimension. My favorite moment is the chinoiserie panels we framed in gilt bamboo frames to flank the bed. They’re a classic touch that’s updated with an icy blue and white.”

With that concept in mind, I already had the bedding and dresser, so the next major item for the room was the headboard. My girlfriend Rhiana told me about Coley Home’s innovative (and chic!) foam headboards and I was immediately intrigued. I took a look at their site and saw that they’re female-founded by Coley herself and that they create completely customizable headboards that ship in a manageably sized box in less than ten days… and they’re made in the USA. Um, WHAT! I was blown away so I reached out to them to see if they’d be interested in me featuring their company, and they couldn’t have been nicer. 😊

Adnan and I went to work designing the headboard and he convinced me to go with a pattern, instead of the traditional white-on-white that you know I was thinking about 😊. We decided on ‘The Crown Headboard’ in the ‘Charles’ shape (each headboard shape is named after someone in the royal family!) in the ‘Mosaic Blue Sky’ fabric. If I had been choosing a headboard for a more feminine room, I would have gone with the ‘Monarch’ shape… I’ve never seen a headboard so unique and whimsical before!

The ‘Charles’ is classic and simple, so the ‘Mosaic Blue Sky’ fabric could really stand out on our queen headboard size. But Coley Home has dozens of stunning fabric choices you can choose from to customize a headboard, and they can send you swatches of the fabric ahead of time as well. We chose about five swatches to compare to my bedding before we decided on the ‘Mosaic Blue Sky’ fabric.

It was really easy to design online and even easier to put together when it came time to setting it up! The whole headboard came in a compact box (in less than a week, might I add!) that I could easily carry, which opened up to the foam headboard and the fabric cover. The headboard expanded to its full shape in about an hour, and then we pulled the fabric cover on and it was good to go! We put it against the wall behind the bed and didn’t find the need  to fasten it in any more than that.

We went with the headboard, as opposed to one of Coley Home’s beds, because I wanted to loft our bed a little bit to have some storage underneath. We chose this bed frame that Adnan recommended, and it was also unbelievably easy to set up (praise!)

I cannot express how easy and functional this headboard would be in a city apartment, or in a home if you just don’t want to deal with the weight and clunkiness of a heavy headboard. Also, even if you’re not looking specifically into headboards right now, Coley Home carries a variety of gorgeous furniture that is fully customizable as well! I’m also eyeing their scalloped block print napkins (of course 😊), which you may have already seen in my holiday gift guide for moms! Also, they were generous enough to extend a discount for you all as well– use the code AMY15 for 15% off the Coley Home website from now through 11/30/2020.

After waking up in this room for the past few weeks, I can confidently say that we made it the most relaxing and comfortable space it could be. We also mounted a TV above the dresser, in front of the bed, so it really feels like a hotel room (this is the first time I’ve ever had a TV in my bedroom 😊). It is so cozy and just right for us. Even my stuffed manatee, Manny, approves. xx
